Privacy Policy for NextWave

Effective Date: June 16, 2026

1. Introduction

NextWave (Pumpfoiling Community) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in relation to our iOS application.

2. Information We Don't Collect

NextWave is designed with privacy in mind. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data, except for the data you actively submit through the Wave Check-in feature (see Section 6). Specifically, outside of Wave Check-in:

  • We do not collect personal information
  • We do not track your location
  • We do not use analytics services
  • We do not create advertising or marketing profiles

The only data sent to a server is the Wave Check-in information described in Section 6, which is processed on our own server infrastructure.

3. Local Device Storage

The app stores the following data locally on your device only:

  • Your notification settings
  • Scheduled local notifications

This data never leaves your device and is only used to provide the app's core functionality.

4. Notifications

If you enable notifications:

  • Notifications are scheduled and managed locally on your device
  • No notification data is transmitted to external servers
  • You can disable notifications at any time through your device settings

5. Schedule Data

The boat schedule data is:

  • Included in the app installation
  • Public information
  • Updated through regular app updates
  • Not personalized or modified based on usage

6. Wave Check-in (optional)

When you check in to a wave (a specific ferry departure), the following is sent to our server and made visible to other users:

  • your chosen display name – or, if you select "anonymous", no name;
  • an anonymous device identifier (a random ID; no account, email, or name read from your device).
  • Purpose: to show other foilers how many people – and who – plan to ride the same wave, for meet-ups and safety.
  • Retention: check-ins are stored only until the relevant departure time has passed and are then deleted automatically (daily).
  • Control: the feature is optional, can be turned off in Settings, you may join anonymously, and you can remove your check-in at any time.
  • Legal basis: your consent, given by actively checking in.
  • Processing: data is processed on our own server infrastructure.

7. Children's Privacy

Our app does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy in the App Store listing and updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy.

9. Contact Us

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us at: contact@nextwaveapp.ch

10. Your Rights

Apart from Wave Check-in, we don't collect any personal data, so there is generally no personal information to access, modify, or delete. You have full control over app-related data through your device's settings.

With regard to the Wave Check-in data described in Section 6, you can at any time:

  • remove your check-in;
  • turn the feature off in Settings;
  • withdraw your consent (withdrawal does not affect processing carried out before the withdrawal);
  • request access to or deletion of your check-in data by contacting us (see Section 9).

11. Data Protection

Apart from the Wave Check-in feature, all app functionality operates locally on your device, protected by your device's built-in security features. Wave Check-in data is processed on our own server infrastructure and deleted automatically once the relevant departure time has passed.
